JXX(TA)
JXX(TA) (meaning: Juxtaposition) is a multimedia brand that focuses on luxury outerwear and accessories. As a team, we are advocates for brand transparency, which is why we offer a behind-the scenes look at our design process through our YouTube Channel.
Our first collection revolves around bags, a timeless luxury. "A New Dawn," embodies a fresh beginning and a renewed sense of design. Drawing inspiration from vintage and rustic looks, each piece is hand-crafted with the highest quality materials. "A New Dawn" marks the start of our journey, celebrating both the beauty of change and the essence of individuality.
At JXX(TA), we strive to diversify our roles, as we believe it is important that everyone involved understands the process from an idea, to a tangible product. Here is a list of my current achievements:
Designed the functionality of handbags and tote bags
Utilized microcopy for scriptwriting
Conducted user research
Helped create a workflow through Notion

Problem
After conducting our initial user research, our results show that the Laurier Brantford campus often feels unwelcoming to students and visitors, with its minimal communal spaces that discourage social interaction. Many first years report a sense of isolation and unwelcoming. The campus has also become known as a sketchy and dodgy environment, which poses many safety concerns for students when they go out. As a result, students may struggle to build relationships and establish a sense of belonging, which is crucial for a positive university experience.
User Research + Personas
Next, we conducted our user interviews and were left with the results needed to craft our three personas, the Shut-in, the Lost, and the Commuter.
Our user personas represent a diverse range of individuals from the population. Each persona reflects distinct needs and preferences, which allowed us to cater our final idea further to specifc audiences. Understanding these personas was crucial, at it helped us design with intention, taking everyone into account.
Ideation
After that, we moved onto our Ideation phase. Here, we brainstormed our solutions. After careful consideration of the needs and interests of our community, we decided to create an interactive map showcasing the hot spots around Downtown Brantford. This approach allows students and visitors to easily explore local attractions, restaurants, and events. By providing this resource, we aim to enhance the experience of navigating our vibrant downtown area.
Implementation
Next, we moved onto our Implementation phase. During this stage, we successfully developed both a low-fidelity and a medium-fidelity prototype of our map. These prototypes will serve as a foundation for refining our design and ensuring that the final product meets user needs effectively.
